Excreting the metabolic waste alone is not function of the kidney, but it also aid in fluid stability in the body and in avoiding loss of water. The urine becomes concentrated when all the water is distributed to the bloodstream and tissue fluid. More the water used for distribution, more the urine gets concentrated.
