- In the beginning of this question, the conversion of the surface area to dm units resulted in 1.8 x 1016 dm2. What calculation made it 1016? Did they multiply the exponents? If so, why was the (1000m/1km) squared? I thought this was to get rid of the km2. I am just having trouble understanding the basics of conversions like this.
