Perform the indicated operations and simplify: ( − 3 4 ) + ( − 1 1 6 ) + ( − 1 1 3 )

To determine

To calculate: The simplified form of the expression (34)+(116)+(113) by performing the indicated operation.

Explanation

Given Information:

The provided expression is:

(34)+(116)+(113).

Formula used:

Adding three or more signed numbers includes:

1. Addition of all positive numbers

2. Addition of all negative numbers

3. Addition of sums from step 1 and 2 in accordance with the rules for addition of two signed numbers

And,

Adding two numbers with like signs includes:

1.. In order to add two positive numbers, their absolute values must be added-up. And as a result, a positive value will be obtained.

2.. And in order to add two negative numbers, their absolute values must be added-up and a negative sign should be placed before the result.

Calculation:

Consider the expression:

(34)+(116)+(113)

First, change the mixed numbers to fraction.

(34)+(116)+(113)=(34)+(76)+(43)

Now, in case, when fractions having different denominator are to be added; first step is to find the least common denominator (LCD),

The LCD of (34)+(76)+(43) is 12
