Warts or papillomavirus is caused by the harmless growth of human papillomavirus on the epithelium of skin of genitalia, knees, elbows, feet, hands, trunk or face. Genital warts are caused by the growth of human papillomavirus near the genitals. The virus is able to invade mucous membranes of vagina, penis, anus or rectum during sexual intercourse.
