Chapter 25, Problem 12E
Summary Introduction
To explain: The way in which a eukaryotic cell distinguishes the end of a broken chromosome from the end of an intact linear chromosome.
Introduction: Eukaryotes have a specialized region called as a telomere, at the end of the chromosome that helps them in replication and maintaining the stability of the chromosome. Certain cellular damage pathways are present in the cell that recognizes the damaged or broken DNA. The telomere could be recognized as the damaged DNA. For protection, they have specialized structural modulations from other DNA sequences.
