Lipids are macromolecules. It is hydrophobic in nature, i.e., do not dissolve in water. Some examples of lipids are butter and oil. Lipids are not polymers, which consist of a long chain of monomers. Lipids contain three important divisions: triglycerides, steroids, and phospholipids. They are commonly called as fats and help to store energy.
