The given case is of a man from rural Idaho, showing fever, loss of memory, difficulty in speech, convulsions, tremors, and he lapsed into a coma. He recovered but sustained long-term neurological disabilities. He did not have bacterial meningitis, and had no known contact with animals. This occurred in late spring.
