Question
Chapter 26, Problem 74E
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Draw the possible cyclic alcohols with the molecular formula
Concept introduction:
Structural isomers are also called as constitutional isomers. These isomers can be defined as the molecules with same molecular formula and different structural formula. They are molecules in which the bonded atoms have different bonding with each other although the number of molecules is same. Identical molecules are molecules which have same structural formulae and same molecular formulae.

3. Draw and then name the four alcohols that have the following molecular formula: C4H100.
Finally, determine if each alcohol is primary, secondary or tertiary (P, S or T)
Structural Formula
Name
P, S, or T.
1. The chemical formula C4H100 results in four alcohols and three ethers for a total of
seven structural
isomers.
Draw pairs of structural formulas for these molecules that illustrate positional and
functional isomerism on a sheet of paper. You will be drawing a total of four formulas.
Label each pair as positional or functional.
