Chapter 27, Problem 21RQ
Summary Introduction
To differentiate:
The renal compensation and respiratory compensation
Introduction:
The mechanism that supports the buffering systems of the body is renal compensation and respiratory compensation. Respiration changes the carbonic acid concentration of the blood that aids in buffering of the body fluid. Renal compensation is the buffering activity that is achieved by the kidneys. The kidney secretes the hydrogen ion and bicarbonate ion to attain equilibrium at the plasma pH.
