Mycoplasma pneumoniae causes a mild infection in the respiratory system and spreads easily through contact with respiratory fluids. Dry cough is the most common symptom of the infection. It results in severe cases when not treated properly as it can affect the brain, peripheral nervous system, kidneys and can cause hemolytic anemia.
