A stepwise mechanism for the formation of glutamine by attack of ${\text{NH}}_{\text{3}}$ on $\text{γ}$-glutamyl phosphate is to be drawn.

Concept introduction:

ATP serves as a source of energy for various biochemical processes. $\text{γ}$-glutamyl phosphate is produced when a phosphate group is transferred to glutamic acid. Glutamine is produced by the reaction of glutamic acid with ammonium ion and water is also produced during this reaction as a byproduct.
