Chapter 29.4, Problem 3R
Summary Introduction

To review:

A technique or a strategy for tree harvest that helps in maintaining the reforestation of trees and also cuts down its cost by retaining the viable mycorrhizal communities.

Introduction:

Mycorrhiza is the mutualistic association formed between a tree and the fungi through its roots. The tree provides fungi food and energy formed by photosynthesis whereas fungi help the tree/plant in the absorption of water and essential minerals from the soil, which are required for its growth.

The presence of mycorrhiza is nearly universal in the plant kingdom as they play a key role in providing essential micronutrients from the soil to the plant. There are two types of mycorrhiza, ectomycorrhizal and endomycorrhiza.
