Introduction:

When herbivorous insects damage plants, the leaves release small quantities of volatile chemicals. These volatile chemicals attract parasitic and predatory insects, which are natural enemies of herbivores. It also triggers the defense response in neighboring plants. These chemicals are semi chemicals that serve as messengers between members of the same species.
