Concept explainers
To describe:
The species diversity in a grassland after fire.
Introduction:
The grassland biomes generally experience both hot and cool weather. It also experiences a moderate level of rainfall that is around 60 cm per year. Due to rapid change in weather tall trees are generally not present.
Explanation of Solution
After a fire, the grassland would undergo secondary succession. In this case, most of the old species that were present before the fire incident would start reproducing back. In the initial sage, the land and the soil would be available for other species as well. So, same more species will grow that will result in species diversity. Hence, species diversity will increase after fire on a grassland,
