Chapter 3, Problem 26E
Summary Introduction

To compare:

The allosteric regulation and covalent regulation of enzyme activity.

Introduction:

Enzymes are composed of proteins which are responsible for metabolic and biochemical reaction in the body. These are also known as biological catalysts which increases the rate of a reaction and decreases the activation energy of the reaction. They remain unreactive in the reaction and just catalyze the reaction to form the products.

The enzymatic activities can be categorized into two types, covalent regulation and allosteric regulation. Allosteric regulation broadly means that the regulatory molecules bind to a site other than the active site of the enzyme, whereas in covalent regulation it attaches to the active site of the enzyme.
