Introduction:
The scientific word of sponges is Porifera, which means pore-bearing. They are made up of simple and independent cells like collar cells, porocytes, and amoebocytes. Mostly 99% of sponges live in marine water and only few are freshwater species. They are also present in the bottom of ocean surface. Sponges show ecological importance by converting the harmful form of the nitrogenous gas into useful form of the nitrogen gas, as utilized by the plants.
