Rate of Climb of Aircraft A small Cessna plane takes off from Hyannis Airport. When the plane is 1 mile from the airport, it is flying at an altitude of 3000 feet. When the plane is 2miles from the airport, it is flying at an altitude of 4300 feet. Round your answers to the following questions to the nearest tenth.
a. If the plane continues flying at the same slope (the same rate of climb), what will its altitude be when it is 4.8 miles from the airport?
b. If the plane continues flying at the same rate of climb, how many miles from the airport will it be when it reaches an altitude of 6000 feet?
c. A Lear jet leaves the airport at the same time and has the same altitude (3000 feet) as the Cessna when each plane is 1 mile from the airport. When the jet is 1.8 miles from the airport, it is flying at an altitude of 4040 feet. Is the jet being flown at the same rate of climb as the Cessna?
