Introduction:

Thick filament consists of a core of elastic protein that is known as titin. Titin extends from each end of the thick filament across the I band to the Z line on each side. Titin is referred to as molecular spring as it recoils after stretching. Thick filaments also contain about 300 myosin molecules that are made up of pair of myosin subunits that are twisted around each other.
