Question
Chapter 37.3, Problem 2R
Summary Introduction
To explain:
The types of situations in which plants adapt to asexual reproduction.
Introduction:
A plant can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Although sexual reproduction has many advantages over asexual reproduction, however, in some situations, plants adapt to reproduce asexually. Sexual reproduction causes variation but in asexual reproduction, genetic recombination does not take place as only one parent takes part in reproduction. Therefore, the offspring produced in asexual reproduction is a genetic clone of its parent, so as a result the superior traits present in the parent gets directly passed on to the offspring.
