Question
Chapter 39.4, Problem 3R
Summary Introduction
To review:
The adaptations of the circulatory system, by which the hot fishes are able to increase their swimming muscles temperature.
Introduction:
Fishes can be divided into two categories based on their ability to increase the swimming muscle temperature by countercurrent-heat exchange mechanism. “Cold” fishes have large aorta and “hot” fishes have smaller aorta. The blood flowing through the larger aorta of cold fish does not get heat from its surroundings.
