Selection structure:
Selection structure tells the computer that it needs to make a decision before it moves to process the next instruction. The computer makes the decision based on the condition specified at the starting of the selection structure, and the next instruction to be processed based on the previous decision’s result.
The condition in a selection structure must be written in a way that it evaluates to an answer of either true or false.
There are two types of decision structure, they are:
- Single-alternative
- Dual-alternative
Single-alternative:
A single-alternative selection structure requires one or more actions to be decided only when the condition is evaluated to true.
Therefore, the selection structure that provides instructions that are to be processed only when the condition is true is “Single-alternative”.
