Interpretation:

The temperature at which the bottom of a column of mercury of height 10.0m is expected to freeze has to be calculated.

Concept Introduction:

The Clausius-Clapeyron’s equation deals with the correlation of pressure and temperature for the process that includes the phase transition.  The Clausius-Clapeyron’s equation defines the correlation of temperature and pressure for the closed system.  The mercury exists in liquid form at the room temperature.  The expected freezing point of mercury is calculated by using the Clapeyron’s equation.  The Clapeyron’s equation is shown below.
