Dialysis One measure of whether a dialysis patient has been adequately dialyzed is by the urea reduction ratio (URR). It is generally agreed that a patient has been adequately dialyzed when URR exceeds a value of 0.65. The value of URR can be calculated for a particular patient using the following formula by Gotch:
where
a. Find the value of URR after patient receives dialysis for 180 minutes. Has the patient received adequate dialysis?
b. Find the value of URR after patient receives dialysis for 240 minutes. Has the patient received adequate dialysis?
c. Calculate the instantaneous rate of change of URR when time on dialysis is 240 minutes, and interpret.
