Concept Introduction:
A chemical reaction is defined as a chemical change that occurs in the system when a substance combines with another one in order to form a different species.
The species initially present in the reaction are known as reactant species and the species that form after the completion of the chemical reaction are known as product species.
Explanation of Solution
Chemical reaction is defined as a process in which reactant species interact with each other in order to form products.
In a chemical reaction, neither the new atoms are created nor the previous atoms are destroyed. Bonds present in between reactant molecules break, the atoms are rearranged in order to form new bonds that results in the formation products. After the formation of products, the chemical reaction gets completed.
Basically, during a chemical reaction, rearrangement of bond between the reactants molecules takes place without breaking or formation of atoms.
A chemical reaction involves the interaction of reactant species with each other in order to form products.

- Consider the following particulate-level representation of a chemical equation: The white spheres represent hydrogen atoms, the black sphere represents a carbon atom, and the red spheres represent oxygen atoms. a Write a balanced chemical equation representing this reaction. b Write a word description of the reaction on the particulate and molar levels.arrow_forwardThe Solvay process is multistep industrial method for the manufacture of sodium carbonate, Na2CO3, which is also known as washing soda. Although most of the industrialized world utilizes the Solvay process for production of sodium carbonate, it is not manufactured in the United States because it can be obtained at lower cost from a large natural deposit in Wyoming. Questions 19 through 22 are based on reactions in that process. Sodium carbonate is used for many purposes, including glass manufacturing.
