Chapter 50, Problem 2S
Summary Introduction
To explain:
The activities of innate defense system and the events that are happening to the skin.
Introduction:
The new kitten of individual scratches her roommate and the skin is turning red, warm and sore on touch. The roommate thought she contracted some fatal infection, but the individual is discussing the activities of the innate system with her. Innate defense or non-specific defense provides general response towards the pathogen. Its mechanism includes inflammatory responses that play an important role by providing defense against pathogens.

A hypothetical disorder prevents memory cells from forming. What effect would this have on the immune system? B lymphocytes would be affected, but not T lymphocytes, Vaccinations would no longer be useful, The inflammatory response would no longer be effective, or The adaptive immune response would cease to function, but the innate immune response would continue to function normally.
An experimental animal is given a drug that blocks phagocytosis. Will this drug prevent the animal’s immune system from killing foreign cells via the complement system?
