Human chorionic gonadotropin ( hCG ) is a hormone that is produced by the placenta of the females after the process of implantation. It forms the basis for the pregnancy tests. In some cancerous tumors, this hormone is produced which results in its elevated levels. The pituitary analogue of this hormone is LH (luteinizing hormone) and it is produced in both females and males of all ages.
