Summary Introduction
To draw: Simple sketches illustrating the difference between radial cleavage and spiral cleavage.
Introduction: During early development of an organism, the zygote undergoes divisions to form the embryo. The pattern of division depends on the type of egg cell of the organism. The type of egg cell depends on the distribution of yolk and cytoplasm in the cell. Holoblastic cleavage is seen in isolecithal egg cells, in which the yolk is distributed evenly throughout the cell.
