Question
Chapter 5.3, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction
To explain: The process of the transfer of phospholipids to the leaflet of the ER membrane facing towards the ER lumen.
Introduction: The phospholipid bilayer is formed in a particular arrangement where its hydrophobic ends are away from the aqueous medium. The phospholipids have their polar hydrophilic head towards the outward side while hiding the hydrophobic parts in between. This configuration is energetically favorable and hence aids to the stability of the membrane.
