Chapter 6, Problem 15TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

Examining the idea of researchers (that an enzyme and its substrate fit together like a lock and key but that the products do not fit the enzyme) with reversible reactions.

Introduction:

Enzymes are biocatalyst that increase the rate of any reaction by binding to a substrate and form more products. The binding of substrates to an enzyme may be reversible or irreversible. The products formed in the reversible reaction again combine to form reactants (enzyme and substrate). The products formed in the irreversible reaction cannot combine to form reactants.

Construct a hypothesis addressing the effect concentration will have on rate of reaction. What chemical reaction is being catalyzed in the experiment? Label the substrate(s), enzyme, and product(s). Did your actual results match your hypotheses? If not, why?
Consider an enzyme catalyzed reaction taking place in an aqueous solution. If the earlier process of folding the enzyme results in a large decrease in the entropy of the system, how would this impact the rate of the catalyzed reaction.
Briefly describe one of the mechanisms by which enzymes facilitate faster reaction rates in biological chemistry
