Chapter 6, Problem 28PP

(a)

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

From the given energy diagram – the transition state and intermediates should be identified

Concept introduction:

The transition states and intermediates can be identified by using following energy profile diagram

Organic Chemistry, Chapter 6, Problem 28PP , additional homework tip 1

Transition state: transition state is defined as a maximum instability of the chemical reaction, it requires more energy to attend the transition state finally it will convert in to an intermediate or product and its state is determined by the mechanisms of the particular reaction.

Intermediate: intermediate is referred as a stable form of the reaction, it forms from the reactant and it could be isolate from the reaction mixture eventually it can be converted in to the final product.
