Falling Distance
When an object is falling because of gravity, the following formula can be used to determine the distance the object falls in a specific time period:
The variables in the formula are as follows: d is the distance in meters, g is 9.8, and t is the amount of time, in seconds, that the object has been falling.
Write a function named fallingDistance that accepts an object’s falling time (in seconds) as an argument. The function should return the distance, in meters, that the object has fallen during that time interval. Write a

- (Physics) Buoyancy is the upward force a liquid exerts on a submerged object, as shown in Figure 6.9. The buoyancy force is given by this formula: B=pgV Bisthebuoyancyforce( lbforN).isthefluiddensity( slug/f t 3 orkg/ m 3 ).gistheaccelerationcausedbygravity( 32.2ft/se c 2 or9.8m/ s 2 ).Vistheobjectsvolume( f t 3 or m 3 ). a. Using this formula, write a function named buoyantForce(double ro, double vol, int units) that accepts a fluid density, the volume of an object placed in the fluid, and the units to be used(1=U.S.Customaryunits,2=metricunits), and returns the buoyancy force exerted on the object. b. Include the function written for Exercise 6a in a working C++ program, and use your program to complete the following chart:arrow_forward(General math) a. Write a function named rightTriangle() that accepts the lengths of two sides of a right triangle as the arguments a and b. The subroutine should determine and return the hypotenuse, c, of the triangle. (Hint:UsePythagorastheorem,c2=a2+b2.) b. Include the function written for Exercise 4a in a working program. The main() function should call rightTriangle() correctly and display the value the function returns.arrow_forwardMark the following statements as true or false: a. To use a predefined function in a program, you need to know only the name of the function and how to use it. (1) b. A value-returning function returns only one value. (2, 3) c. Parameters allow you to use different values each time the function is called. (2, 7, 9) d. When a return statement executes in a user-defined function, the function immediately exits. (3, 4) e. A value-returning function returns only integer values. (4) f. A variable name cannot be passed to a value parameter. (3, 6) g. If a C++ function does not use parameters, parentheses around the empty parameter list are still required. (2, 3, 6) h. In C + + , the names of the corresponding formal and actual parameters must be the same. (3, 4, 6) i. A function that changes the value of a reference parameter also changes the value of the actual parameter. (7) j. Whenever the value of a reference parameter changes, the value of the actual parameter changes. (7) k. In C++, function definitions can be nested; that is, the definition of one function can be enclosed in the body of another function. (9) l. Using global variables in a program is a better programming style than using local variables, because extra variables can be avoided. (10) m. In a program, global constants are as dangerous as global variables. (10) n. The memory for a static variable remains allocated between function calls. (11)arrow_forward
- (Numerical) Heron’s formula for the area, A, of a triangle with sides of length a, b, and c is A=s(sa)(sb)(sc) where s=(a+b+c)2 Write, test, and execute a function that accepts the values of a, b, and c as parameters from a calling function, and then calculates the values of sand[s(sa)(sb)(sc)]. If this quantity is positive, the function calculates A. If the quantity is negative, a, b, and c do not form a triangle, and the function should set A=1. The value of A should be returned by the function.arrow_forward(Statics) A beam’s second moment of inertia, also known as its area moment of inertia, is used to determine its resistance to bending and deflection. For a rectangular beam (see Figure 6.6), the second moment of inertia is given by this formula: Ibh3/12 I is the second moment of inertia (m4). b is the base (m). h is the height (m). a. Using this formula, write a function called beamMoment() that accepts two double- precision numbers as parameters (one for the base and one for the height), calculates the corresponding second moment of inertia, and displays the result. b. Include the function written in Exercise 4a in a working program. Make sure your function is called from main(). Test the function by passing various data to it.arrow_forward(Misc. application) a. The data in the following chart was collected on a recent automobile trip: Write a C++ program that accepts a mileage and gallons value and calculates the miles pergallon (mpg) for that segment of the trip. The mpg is obtained as the difference in mileage between fill-ups divided by the number of gallons of gasoline used in the fill-up. b. Modify the program written for Exercise 9a to also compute and display the cumulative mpg after each fill-up. The cumulative mpg is calculated as the difference between the mileage at each fill-up and the mileage at the start of the trip divided by the sum of gallons used to that point in the trip.arrow_forward
- Age information for 100 families of 4 people is defined as members of a community. For every family, Send the age of each family member to a function called average (), where the average is after calculating, send the address of the average information to the main() function, main the function prints, Send the addresses of parents ' age information to function1 (), in the function, it checks whether the ages of the mother and father are double, and each if the age of both is even, it returns a value of 1 from the function, otherwise a value of 0,write a C program.arrow_forwardfast please in pyth 10. Write a complete function. The name of the function is priceGuide, it has a single input parameter called avgPrice, and it has no return. The function is used to determine how expensive restaurants are, based on their average meal price (you can assume that the price is always larger than zero). If the average price is $10 or less, print the message “Inexpensive”. If the price is more than $10 but less than or equal to $30, print the message “Moderate”. If the price is more than $30, print the message “Pricey”. 9. Write a for loop to print all the even numbers contained in the range of 2 to 20, inclusive.arrow_forwardOne foot equals 12 inches. Write a function, using python, named feet_to_inches that accepts a number of feet as an argument and returns the number of inches in that many feet. Use the function in a programs, using python, that prompts the user to enter a number of feet then displays the number of inches in that many feet.arrow_forward
- (Time in Seconds) Write a function that takes the time as three integer arguments (forhours, minutes, and seconds) and returns the number of seconds since the last time the clock “struck12.” Use this function to calculate the amount of time in seconds between two times, both of whichare within one 12-hour cycle of the clockarrow_forwardmplement a function gct according to these guidelines: The function accepts a single positive integer which represents a number of tablespoons of a liquid. You may assume that this number is always between 0 and 25599 (inclusive of both). The function returns a formatted str containing an equivalent number of gallons, cups andtablespoons. The answer should use as many gallons, then cups as possible. For example:gct(312) would return '01g,03c,08t' as 312 tablespoons is equivalent to 1 gallon, 3 cups, and 8 tablespoons. Each of the output quantities (gallons, cups, tablespoons) should occupy two digits. If the values have less than two digits, they should be padded with leading zeroes. I.e., 2 cups is represented by '02c' .arrow_forwardCode in C++ language The area of an arbitrary triangle can be computed using the formula area = √(s(s–a)(s–b)(s–c)) where the square root is applied to the entire product and where a, b, and c are the lengths of the sides, and s is thesemiperimeter of the triangle given by the formula: s = (a + b + c)/2 Write a void function named triangle that computes the area and perimeter (as well as the semiperimeter (which will be used to compute the area)of a triangle based on the length of the sides. The function should use five parametersand may call other functions.Make your function robust. Note that not all combinations of a, b, and c produce a triangle. Your function should produce correct resultsfor legal data and reasonable results for illegal combinations. Include in your submission a driver that repeatedly reads in 3 positive numbers thatare the sides of a triangle, and each time print out the sides and the area and perimeter calculated by the triangle function.
