Introduction:
An osteocyte is a star-shaped bone cell, commonly found in the mature bone tissue. Such bone cells can live up to the whole life of the organism. There are sound 42 billion osteocyte present in the body. Osteocytes do not divide, and their average life period is 25 years. Their main function is to perform molecular synthesis and transmit signals for long distances.
