Question
Chapter 7, Problem 44RQE
Program Plan Intro
Two-dimensional array:
A two dimensional array is also called as multi-dimensional array; a multidimensional array is that all the identical arrays are put together into a single array.
- This is useful for storing same type of multiple sets of data in the same place.
- The main advantage is that one-dimensional array can hold only one type of value where as two dimensional array can hold multiple sets of data in the form of rows and columns.
- The structure of a multi-dimensional array is lookalike a table (that is combination of rows and columns); it contains same type of columns.
Example:
//Declaring multi-dimensional array
double testmarks[5][5];
The above statement is used to create a multidimensional array with “5” rows and “5” columns; the first square bracket is used to refer the number of rows and the second square bracket is used to refer the number of columns.
- Start the program
- Declare the constant size for the rows as “30” and columns as “10” using “const” keyword
- Then, define the two-dimensional array name as “grades[][]” with the integer data type and pass the row value and column value using the variable name

Define a two-dimensional array of integers named grades. It should have 30 rows and 10 columns.
Write a code segment that initializes each cell in a three-dimensional array with an integer that represents its three index positions. Thus, if a position is (depth, row, column), the integer datum at position (2, 3, 3) is 233.
Each element of an array is accessed and indexed by a number known as a(n)____________
