To identify:
The stages of mitosis in a prepared slide of onion root tip which is given in the textbook of question number 16.
Introduction:
Mitosis is an equational division of cell cycle. In mitosis somatic cell divides into two identical daughter cells which receive equal number of chromosome. The mitosis is divided into four phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.
In prophase of mitosis, the chromatin molecules start condensing and form a structure which is called as chromosomes. In metaphase, the chromosome molecule aligned at equatorial plate. In anaphase, the sister chromatid moves towards the opposite pole of cells. In telophase, the cytoplasm and nucleus of cells divide and the decondensation of chromosomes start.
Pictorial representation:
Fig.1 represents the stages of mitosis.
Fig.1: The stages of mitosis.
Introduction:
Metaphase is the second stage of mitosis.
(b)
Introduction:
Telophase is the last stage of mitosis.
(c)
Introduction:
After chromosome divides, the cell cytoplasm tends to divide into two new cells.
(d)
Introduction:
Metaphase is the phase where the cell shows its chromosomes clearly.
