Introduction:

Impulse on an object is given by,

  FΔt=Δp

Where,

  F= force exerted on an object

  Δt= time taken to change its momentum

  Δp= change in momentum of the object

In a car crash, the change in momentum of the car will be same.

Consider the above mentioned formula, if the time taken during collision increases anyhow, then the force that will be exerted on the car during collision will be less.
