Program Plan Intro
Array:
An array is a variable which stores multiple values of same types of data; the array values are stored in continuous memory locations.
An array is declared through the following format:
Data-type array-name [size declarator];
Consider the following array definition:
//Declaration of array
int values[5];
- In the above example, “int” represents the data type of the array, “values[]” is the array name and the number inside the brackets is the size declarator of the array.
Subscript of an array:
In an array, each element is assigned with the unique number which is specified inside the brackets is known as subscript.
- The subscript is used to specify the specific element in an array and it is referred by adding a square bracket next to the array name.
- In an array, the first element is assigned with the subscript “0”, the second element with subscript “1” and so on.
