Tight End Strike
After reviewing all of the options we have decided to support option 1 and reject the tight ends request for an additional two-credit increase in salary. Our decision was reached together by a combination of strategic considerations and the impact we believe this choice will have on our franchise.
The first thing we acknowledged was that our tight end performance this year has not been a significant contributor to our team's success this season. Our team overall has been doing very well in every area besides the tight end position, it is our weakest link. The proposed strike of tight ends would not severely affect our current gameplay, as we have not heavily relied on them for scoring and have still won almost every game and we still are near the top of the leaderboards. On top of this we have observed that some of our competitors have tight ends who are scoring a lot of points such as Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews. These tight ends have proven to be a huge factor in the number of points their teams get. By rejecting the salary increase demand and supporting the strike, we believe we can level the playing field even further. We think that it may weaken the performance of other teams that have previously benefited from their tight ends while not affecting us negatively at all which will end in a positive impact for our team. This strategic move could give us a competitive advantage because we are already used to not winning off
relying on tight end, even if it means sacrificing some tight end performance for the short term.
In terms of league deliberations, we understand that option 1 comes with the risk of a strike which could last for weeks. However, we are willing to take this risk given the potential long-term benefits for our franchise. We believe that after a few weeks of strike action there is a growing likelihood that the tight ends union will reconsider its position. By the fourth week, there is a 1/6 chance of the union caving. This outcome aligns with our strategic objectives, as it could force the union to compromise. In conclusion, our franchise supports option 1 to deny the tight end request as we believe it offers us a unique opportunity for us by disrupting the performance of teams with strong tight ends. While we are willing to endure the initial disruption, we are remaining optimistic about the potential long-term advantages this decision may bring to our team. Our motivation is to enhance our competitiveness within the league and potentially improve our overall standing in the future.

We apply our objective, reliable assessment process to identify people who have the necessary aptitudes and

No other programs in Canada assist and support companies in delivering on-the-job learning by their

US Airways owns a piece of land near the Pittsburgh International Airport. The land originally cost US Airways $375,000. The airline is considering building a new training center on this land. US Airways determined that the proposal to build the new facility is acceptable if the original cost of the land is used in the analysis, but the proposal does not meet the airline’s project acceptance criteria if the land cost is above $850,000. A developer recently offered US Airways $2.5 million for the land. Should US Airways build the training facility at this location?

Assume you are an engineer working for a chemical production company. You are on the technical team that is responsible for deciding what to do about the dangerous chemical that your company is using to produce its best-selling chemical product. Recent reports have just made known the dangers of this chemical, and the company now needs to decide how to proceed. There are several options to consider: stop producing the harmful product altogether and take a hit on total profits; continue to make the product and sell it, like nothing's wrong, since the federal government has not cracked down. You could also spend money and engineering efforts in R&D to develop a safe chemical that would take its place. There is no guarantee that this would happen any time soon, but the scientists think it is realistically possible. To make matters worse, your biggest competitor produces this harmful product off-shore and is not hampered by the US regulations. If you stop producing this product…

Qantas expects to cut its fuel bill by as much as $40 million a year thanks to a radical overhaul to how it plots its flights across the globe. The airline has spent five years and millions of dollars building a new flight planning program – which it says will materially cut its fuel bill and bring its ultra-haul ambitions closer to reality. Qantas’ team of dispatchers have used the same computer program for 30 years to plan the route of each flight, assessing weather, airspace traffic, safety and legal constraints on three of four possible routes. The new system uses cloud computing to crunch data on thousands of possible flight paths, using millions of data points – including the latest wind patterns, and varying altitudes and wind speeds – to build a cost map that presents the most efficient route… A flight to Johannesburg, for example, was directed to fly 160 nautical miles further than it would normally, but in doing so cut the headwinds it experienced by two-thirds. The 747…

Week 3: Learning Unit 1: Ethics of Accruals and Deferrals
Wells Company is a pesticide manufacturer. Its sales declined greatly this year due to the passage of legislation outlawing the sale of several of Wells' chemical pesticides. During the coming year, Wells will have environmentally safe and competitive replacement chemicals to replace these discontinued products. Sales in the next year are expected to greatly exceed those of any prior year. Therefore, the decline in this year's sales and profits appears to be a one-year aberration.
Even so, the company president believes that a large dip in the current year's profits could cause a significant drop in the market price of Wells's stock and make it a takeover target. To avoid this possibility, he urges Tim Allen, controller, to accrue every possible revenue and to defer as many expenses as possible in making this period's year-end adjustments.
The president says to Tim, “We need the revenues this year, and next year we can…

Freddie and Jason have just opened the Texas Toothpick, a chain-saw sharpening and repair service located on Elm Street. The Texas Toothpick promises same-week repair service. Freddie and Jason are concerned that a projected dramatic increase in demand as the end of October nears will cause service to deteriorate. Freddie and Jason have had difficulty attracting employees, so they are the only workers available to complete the work. Safety considerations require that they each work no more than 40 hours per week. The first chain-saw sharpening and repair required 7 hours of work, and an 80 percent learning curve is anticipated.

to the two senior designers. To provide label designing experience for Sarah, the junior designer must be assigned at least 15% of the total project time. However, the number of hours assigned to Sarah must not exceed 25% of the total number of hours assigned to the
two senior designers. Due to other project commitments, Lisa has a maximum of 50 hours available to work on this project. Hourly wage rates are $30 for Lisa, $25 for David, and $18 for Sarah.
