Why be a teacher? Everyone has their reasoning behind what career choice they decide on. Whether is it for the money, benefits or vacation time, whatever it is we all have our reason, this reasoning may be well thought out in one’s mind or just coming a feeling deep down inside. I feel that my reasoning behind pressuring a career as an educator has many aspects of reasoning and feelings, I think me becoming a teacher is my calling.
All my life I have been drawn to helping others with understanding aspects, whether they are trying to understand a simple task or how do answer a problem. I honestly feel that I can read people and I know how to relate to them on their level of understanding and that is a gift that god blessed me with. If god blessed you with a gift wouldn’t be wrong to waste it? Every child, adult, and person in general are different in millions of different ways and learning something is one of them. No two individuals comprehend something in the same ways. In my experience with teachers that I have had do not understand that. It truly does upset me, because I was that child at one time completely not understanding reading/spelling. Sadly my teacher was not

I want to be there for my students observe the few that are struggling the concepts not just move on and leave them behind. In my opinion I feel as if in this society that is why many children aren’t graduating or pursuing more with their education. Most of them are just acting out, because they are not asking for help or not getting the extra attention that they need to thrive. Many teachers don’t see that and the children go on to the next grade not understand anything from the previous level and then get lost and can’t catch up, and eventually give up. That one on the main reasons I want to be in childhood development grade levels to make sure that these children…well as many as I can are succeeding and prepared for the next grade
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be an elementary teacher. God placed the act of working with kids on my heart when I was very young, and I am thrilled to say that is still where I feel called. I went to a Union elementary school, Moore Elementary, until fifth grade, and the impact my teachers made on me there has shaped me into the person I am today. One of the most influential teachers in my life was my Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Greer. I had the amazing opportunity to go back to Moore and job shadow her. Being around her again made me remember all of the incredible things she taught me, and it was so surreal to see her in action impacting her current students. I am so happy that I got to job shadow her and to watch her from a different perspective than I had being her student. Through this new perspective, I learned so many new things about teaching.
For me, the decision to become a teacher is more of a way of life than a career. I have always loved school, practicing at being school marm from a young age, and voraciously devouring every shred of education offered me in my career as a student. If it were possible, I would be a student for the rest of my life. And then I still would not have learned enough. As a teacher, I hope to instill this appetite for knowledge in secondary students. They are, after all, the future leaders of the world, and what better place to expand the minds of the generations to come than here in Appalachia where education programs, especially the sciences, which I plan to teach, are poorly funded and children’s dreams
Over the last several years in addition to being a full time student I have also enjoyed various other activities including working, sports, and giving back to my community. All of these activities motivate me to succeed. In addition, they each help to make me a responsible individual and a good citizen.
However, as I grew older I realized those reasons were silly. Sure, teachers do not earn as much as doctors, but they can usually live on what they earn and through years of work my wages could rise, and there would be problems in every profession whether it be overly talkative children or a computer that just will not work right. When I put aside my childish worries, I found what truly mattered in teaching: the bond a teacher makes with their children and the smiles that children present you with when they accomplish
Throughout my educational career, I gained the teaching of 32 magnificent teachers, even so, just two ever genuinely inspired my work, and strived to know my being as an equal, as a fellow. I have always attained the status amongst exceptional students, and time was on my side, it seemed, when I met one of the utmost inspirational teachers I have had the tremendous pleasure of learning from, Mrs. Leah Tucker, my art teacher, who taught me not only who artists were, or how to draw or paint, for three stupendous years of my schooling career; suddenly 8th grade came around, I was acquainted with Mr. Bevis, who has the probability of being one of the best English teachers, and inspirations I may ever have. Fortunately, bits of both of their teachings
A college education will help me fulfill my dreams of using my knowledge for a greater purpose in the world. There are many problems in the world that I would like to at least shed light if not help resolve. For example, mental health within people of color, isn’t as vital as it should be. As a person who has suffered from depression as well as having family members that suffer from mental illnesses, I have personally seen how something so critical can be swept under the rug and that someone dealing with it not have the support they need. I am currently majoring in Psychology and my goal after medical school is to psychiatrist and create a non-profit organization, devoted to creating safe spaces regarding people of color and their mental health. My college education will help me learn the patterns of humans and their thought process consciously and subconsciously to ensure that the setting of my future organization is aiding those who
Have you ever had a teacher go above and beyond the call of duty? Not just the lesson of the day did you learn but a life lesson? To give you more confidence than what she has? I had her. And I am very fortunate to have someone like that in my life. She was the hero in my eyes. Even though she was a language arts teacher she taught me nobody is perfect. I was a quiet, and still am, leader. But when it came up to speaking in front of people, I was a mouse, still and silent. Since she is a reading teacher, it’s almost impossible to not teach about the love for books, and so I became almost immediately drawn into the excitement of reading.
There are many reasons why I want to be a teacher. Starting with the most important, I want to influence children positively with Christian perspectives that will help them achieve satisfaction in their life. I also would like the opportunity to coach. I believe coaches have more influence on children than teachers. I think this is true because sports are something that the
I’ve always had fun using a computer and learning new things about video game technology and just random stuff. I would really like to expand my knowledge on the subject about computers or something involving computers. I also enjoy graphic design and love to draw. Soon I will even get my own drawing tablet to create new drawings on a computer instead of using pencil and paper. Something I like to also do is learn about different places and cultures.
Many children would say that school is not their favorite place, but, when I was growing up, school is the only place I wanted to be. the world was at my fingertips. I could ask any question, and I knew there would be an answer. As I grew older, I found a desire to work with other students in my community. In my sophomore year of high school, I started volunteering at the middle school, working with the band. Through this experience, I discovered the passion I have to be a teacher. Many of the students I worked with had difficult home lives, and it often affected their academics. Working with these students, I wanted them to understand one thing: they matter. It had nothing to do with how well they could play. I simply wanted them to understand
I am single and do not have any kids. I am going into teaching because I have always had a desire to work with youth. I have six years of experience working with kids in a variety of settings. I worked at a daycare for two years, volunteered at Iowa Western Community College and the Ellis I. Levitt Boys and Girls Club for a year. I now currently a sub for Grand Prairie Independent School District. This year marks my second year as a substitute teacher in the district. The career path of a teacher has crossed my path many times. I decided last year, after subbing for a year that becoming a teacher has always been a part of my destiny. I plan to be the individual leading educational activities in a classroom setting, addressing disciplinary concerns,
There is a wide range of reasons that one would consider being a teacher. Each individual has
The job of a teacher is for them to educate their students and to listen to what their class has to say. The job of a teacher is also to prepare students for their futures and to assist them when they ask for help. When a teacher is not doing their job, it’s not only hard for their students to learn, but it can damage how they feel about themselves. When I entered high school I never expected to think of myself as a failure, but by the end of my junior year I was completely defeated because of a teacher that did not do their job.
Everything started when I realized my misconception about one of my students. Let’s start from the beginning of my short but eye opening teaching career. It was seven years ago, when I started working as a kindergarten teacher in a public elementary school in my country, Turkey. I had several internship experiences for four semesters in different settings such as in a kindergarten, a preschool, and a Montessori classroom during my bachelor degree, I finally had my own classroom that I can mold and educate my students based on my paradigms. Even without knowing the paradigms as much as I comprehend right now, by just knowing the eminent child development theorist and their theories, I always believed that every second of child’s life can be utilized as a teaching moment to help them to construct their knowledge. Therefore, most of the activities I created were coming from my students’ interest. Even though I had a little bit crowded classroom, in which I had
My motivation for being a teacher comes from somewhere deep within my heart and soul. I love children. I love the look that comes across their faces when they finally grasp a concept after they have been trying to truly understand it. I had a lot of teachers that made an impact on me and I want to have the same impact on as many children as possible. My teachers installed a love of learning in me. There is no better profession than teaching for those who want to learn. One is learning just as much from their students, if not more, than what they teach. Teaching is rewarding and involves making the world a better place. That is my calling. To change the world, one person at a time, by showing love to each and every person I meet. Weather it be one of my students or one of their parents, I want to be Christ’s light just like my teachers were for me. I want to be the support system that shows each and every one of my students that they can do anything they put their mind to. Not only can they shoot for the stars, but they can shoot far beyond. After all, I was once just a kid from a small farm town that no one knows about. Now I’ve been on 4 mission trips, I travel all around, and I moved half way across the country to chase my dreams. I am here because I was impacted by my high school history teacher/ musical director, Mr. Wittig. He pushed me to chase my dreams and to follow my heart and not to let anything get in my way. I want to share what I have with every child I can,
