Teaching means giving students the skills to succeed in their future endeavors. I believe that teaching is an opportunity to change the world one student at a time and is one of the most important jobs available to regular people. Being a teacher is a blessing and having the opportunity to work with amazing kids is my dream. I have a special connection with kids and a way of influencing their understanding, which is one of the most valuable skills I have to offer. Learning the basics and mastering one thing at a time is a method I firmly believe in and it has helped me and my students in mastering skills that where once just a wish. Loving what I do and a enjoying it as often as possible is a habit that has brought much joy and success in my experience. I don't sweat the small stuff but take the important stuff very serious and dedicate everything to its success. From my experience, the best way to reach all students from all backgrounds is to use an all-inclusive system that encourages students to learn from each other and through group participation. I will support all students in their pursuit of personal mastery while meeting state standards and encouraging personal growth. My teaching style will be an authoritative student-centered approach that focuses on respect and cohesion. Knowing that I can overcome adversity is an attitude that has helped me be successful, whether it be in school, work, sports or in life, I know that if I give it my complete effort, I can succeed. If I'm behind or down, I work harder or practice more. I never give up or quit cause I can always come back. This is the attitude that has helped me to become the person I am today. I believe its important to be honest, hardworking and loyal. Don't be too hard on yourself or your team. Know your place and know who you are. Working with children and supporting their learning is my passion. I have always been inspired by the opportunity teaching offers each child to reach their full potential; which understandably plays a crucial part in children achieving lifelong learning.
Why is teaching an important profession to me? Life is about something, but what it is about for me it is the passing of knowledge that will make society move forward. Without the teacher, we would be in the dark, because, the light of someone teaching would not be. We would not advance as a society, on Medicare or agricultural advances.
I see students as the next generations’ heroes in so many fields. In my vision, I have to inspire students and prepare them with confidence, knowledge, experience and skills. Which means I encourage, communicate, guide, teach, and assess students in order to enrich their infrastructures.
For me, teaching provides the opportunity to share my passion for education with my students. It has been said that teachers should not be allowed to develop relationships with their students, because it interferes with their learning. However, I believe it is the relationship between the teacher and the students that sets the groundwork for their learning. When students feel as though they have a purpose for being in the classroom, and that they have a teacher who cares for their well-being, it gives them the confidence and motivation they need to continue with their education.
Through the classes I have taken at Wilmington University and my experiences in the classroom, I have developed a personal teaching philosophy that will be implemented into my future classrooms. I chose the teaching profession because I understand the challenges and responsibilities that come with teaching young minds. Children are our future and I am confident in my ability to help students reach their potential both inside and outside of the classroom.
2) I believe sharing support of ELLs and ensuring an inclusive approach relies greatly on the teachers themselves, specifically the classroom and ELL teacher. Fairbaim & Jones-Vo mention two things that I believe would work these are collaboratively planning lessons and co-teaching. By planning lessons together, both teachers are on the same page, They each understand the respected needs of their students and able to work together to create ways in which lessons are excited to optimize student success.
