The United States and China Relation started since 1784, but it wasn’t until 1970’s when The United States finally recognize the communist people from China. This led us to be influenced by their culture, politics, but the most important economically. The relation of these two countries was not so good at the beginning, since China is a communist country that was involved with many countries that were in war. The interaction of these countries goes back to 1785 when the first Chinese sailors arrived to Baltimore looking for wealth and then it increases in 1847 with the Gold Rush in San Francisco that attracted many Asian Immigrants in look for new opportunities. Being born and raised in India, married in the US to my beloved who is orignially from China, and currently living and raising our two kids in China for the last several years, I have had the opportunity to observe a lot of what this book talks about in an up-close and personal way. While I am impressed by the amount of research and effort that has obviously gone into this book, I am ultimately disappointed by the author's inability to transcend his own biases and the tendency to measure everything from what may be best called a "Western" viewpoint. The author's understanding of India is clearly much superior than his familiarity with China. China is a notoriously difficult onion to peel and I'm afraid the author does not get beyond a couple

For instance, to support the first argument, research should be conducted on women leaders of specific cultures, Smith and Reed initially presented statistics related to female employment. For instance, in the United States approximately 50% of management positions are held by women (Smith & Reed, 2010). Despite the growth in the number of women leadership roles, gender biases continue to exist. For example, in Pakistan women rarely receive support to become leaders because of the belief that they should be at home (Smith & Reed, 2010). As in the previous scenario, these biases are often the result of cultural norms/beliefs, therefore, differences within leadership structures will exist within each subgroup. Smith and Reed (2010) conclude this argument by emphasizing that a greater understanding of women’s leadership influence within each subgroup would “unleash the potential of all citizens in promoting national economic health and prosperity” (p.
Leadership Theory versus Leadership Practice can be compared to as two whole different worlds. Leadership Theories are explained and built in an imaginary world by taking few real life factors that might affect decision making of a leader. This paper is all about the compare and contrasts between Leadership Theory versus Leadership Practice, give my personal opinion on this topic and come to a conclusion if Leadership Theory and Leadership Practice are same always or they are different sometimes. According to Lussier and Achua (2012) there is a leader in everyone and everyone plays a role of a leader. In practical life you are a leader for your life. This will be a huge help in improving your positives and your strengths and also correcting your negatives and your weaknesses. Coming to an organization, these studies and tools are like a power shields for the Human resources team and the management team to hire a new employee or promote a
It has been suggested that, "the areas of mutual interest between the U.S. and China are more prevalent, and more significant, than their spheres of potential conflict.” At the same time, they recognize that "many U.S. and Chinese observers alike are more pessimistic in their views, and that the United States and China have serious bilateral problems that must be addressed and resolved before the relationship can reach its true potential. ”Do you count yourself among the optimists or pessimists? Identify the chief sources of tension in various aspects of Chinese-American relations and explain why you think China and the U.S. will be able (or unable) to
The study will collect and analyze data around perceptions of leadership, and leadership related behaviors and participation. A qualitative approach is more appropriate than quantitative for for two main reasons. First, unlike quantitative research, the current study does not aim to try to confirm or disconfirm a particular hypothesis. It instead intends to explore and describe the participants’ experiences. Further, the current study does not concern itself with what makes up authentic leadership but rather the narratives provided by leaders and followers themselves.
The purpose of this article is to summarize, integrate, and evaluate the many ways interviews can be structured. Reliability and validity are key concepts in the process of selecting among job applicants, since the main goal of selection is to make accurate predictions about which individuals will perform well on the job. Reliability is the consistency of measurement, or the degree to which an instrument measures the same way each time it is used under the same condition with the same subjects (definition from: www.technetium.cen.brad.ac.uk). For example if the applicants are given different selection tests it would be very difficult to compare the difference among applicants. Alternatively, if a number of candidates are given the same

When discussing DE, the UK exemplifies both the history and success of DE because the industrialization Revolution (IR) led the UK to pioneer the development of DE. Similarly, when discussing DE development in China, the UK is the indispensable model of DE and the country to appreciate. China could not have started DE in 1970s without the support and example of the UK’s DE system.

China claimed the sovereignty of territory by far the largest portion of territory - an area defined by the "nine-dash line" which stretches hundreds of miles south and east from its most southerly province of Hainan. China has backed its expansive claims with island-building and naval patrols. At the same time, the Philippines was seeking to develop the seabed hydrocarbon resources of Reed Bank in the South China Sea, an area under dispute with China. Should Manila put plan to action, Beijing is likely to dispatch enforcement vessels to disrupt such activities. Given the deteriorating bilateral relationship, tensions between the two countries are in danger of escalating to the point of brinkmanship. The disputes are further entrenched by rampant nationalism, as each claimant attaches symbolic value to the South China Sea islands that far exceeds their objective material wealth. The newly elected president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte has expressed a willingness to negotiate with China over the disputed islands which dramatizes the issue. That’s an about-face from the previous administration, which had taken a
