Chapter 10, Problem 10.4.4AYLO
Summary Introduction
To analyze:
The role of ATP in muscle contraction caused by myosin-actin interactions.
Introduction:
Muscle contraction is done through the molecular changes happening in the muscle cells. Sliding filament theory is proposed in order to describe the shortening of the muscle fiber. A sarcomere is the basic unit that controls changes in a muscle length. The combined shortening of many sarcomeres in many muscle fibers leads to contract the entire muscle cell. ATP is important to arrange myosin for binding and to recharge the myosin.
