The solubility of oxygen and nitrogen at high altitude compared to sea level is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
Solubility is a chemical property of a substance in its solid, or liquid, or gaseous state called solute to dissolve in a liquid (also in solid or gas) called the solvent.
The solubility of any gas in a liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of the gas above the liquid.
Thus, solubility of gas (not solid or liquid) will increase with an increase in the pressure of the gas above the liquid.
