The ceramic material can be defined as an inorganic, nonmetallic and nonmolecular solid that contains both crystalline materials such as quartz and amorphous material such as glasses.
The ceramic material can be classified as superior to metal because of following properties as follows:
(1) Higher melting point
(2) Stiffer than metal
(3) More resistance towards corrosion and oxidation.
(4) It maintains its strength at higher temperatures.
