To determine:

The reason for so much redundancy and interactivity of the immune system.

Concept introduction:

The immune system is a network of cells, tissues, and organs that protects the body from infection and disease. It has three lines of defense system against the pathogen, namely, the first, the second, and the third line of defense system.

Explanation of Solution

The concept of redundancy and interactions of the immune system can reduce the chances of survival of the invader because if one response does not inactivate the invader completely, another system can compensate the function.

For example cytokine redundancy, this term explains the phenomenon when multiple cytokines perform similar function. This process occurs because multiple cytokines utilize common receptor subunits as well as common intracellular cell signaling pathway. Hence, there is so much redundancy and interactivity of the immune system.

Conclusion

The immune system shows so much redundancy and interactivity.
