Introduction: Skeletal muscle is a type of muscle that is under the control of the somatic nervous system. Skeletal muscles are formed of striated muscle tissue. The muscle fibers are attached to the skeleton.

the sliding filament theory states.
One of the primary characteristics of all muscle tissue is contractility, the ability to shorten
(contract) and lengthen (relax). You've identified the various components of a myofibril above.
