A cosmetics company fills its best selling jars of facial cream by an automatic dispensing machine. The machine is set to dispense a mean of 7.2 ounces per jar. Uncontrollable factors in the process can cause either underfill or overfill, both of which are undesireable. In such a case, the dispensing can be stopped and recalibrated. Regardless of the mean amount despensed, the standard deviation of the amount dispwnsed always has a value of 0.25 ounce. A quality control engineer routinely selects 36 jars from the assembly line to check the amounts filled. On one occasion, the sample mean is 7.8 ounces. Determine if there is sufficient evidence in the sample to indicate, at the 1% level of significance, that the machine should be recalibrated.
A large tank contains 50 gallons of water in which 10 lbs of salt is dissolved. Water containing 2 lbs of salt per gallon flows into the tank at the rate of 5gal/min .The mixture is kept well-stirred and flows out of the tank at the rate of 3gal/min
Find:
a) The amount of salt in the tank after 60 minutes.
b) The amount of water in the tank after 60 minutes.
The warehouse management system (WMS) of RoyaTech's
Delaware Valley warehouse tracks service level at the
warehouse. A service level failure at the warehouse is an event
where a customer's order could not be shipped out in full by
the promised shipping time.
RoyalTech's ordering system prevents customers from placing
orders on products that are not in-stock at the warehouse.
Therefore, we can make the statement that "the WMS is
guaranteed to show 100% service level at the warehouse."
Choose the most appropriate statement in response:
O True, because orders will be placed only for products that are
available.
O False, because service level can never be 100%.
O False, because resource constraint or human error may delay the
shipping even though inventory is available in the system.
O False, because WMS calculations are faulty.

- At the beginning of each week, a machine is in one of four conditions: 1 = excellent; 2 = good; 3 = average; 4 = bad. The weekly revenue earned by a machine in state 1, 2, 3, or 4 is 100, 90, 50, or 10, respectively. After observing the condition of the machine at the beginning of the week, the company has the option, for a cost of 200, of instantaneously replacing the machine with an excellent machine. The quality of the machine deteriorates over time, as shown in the file P10 41.xlsx. Four maintenance policies are under consideration: Policy 1: Never replace a machine. Policy 2: Immediately replace a bad machine. Policy 3: Immediately replace a bad or average machine. Policy 4: Immediately replace a bad, average, or good machine. Simulate each of these policies for 50 weeks (using at least 250 iterations each) to determine the policy that maximizes expected weekly profit. Assume that the machine at the beginning of week 1 is excellent.arrow_forwardTo measure the temperature of a ceramic oven at the college of Arts in PTUK a a thermocouple measurement device is used.
