The University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study (HRS) surveys more than 22,000 Americans over the age of 50
every two years. A subsample of the HRS participated in an Internet-based survey that collected information on a number of
topical areas, including health (physical and mental health behaviors), psychosocial items, economics (income, assets,
expectations, and consumption), and retirement. Two of the questions asked were: "Would you say your health is excellent,
very good, good, fair, or poor?" and “Do you smoke cigarettes now?" Here is the two-way table that summarizes the answers
on these two questions:

As part of a long-term study of individuals 65 years of age or older, sociologists and physicians at the Wentworth Medical Center in upstate New York investigated the relationship between geographic location and depression. A sample of 60 individuals, all in reasonably good health, was selected; 20 individuals were residents of Florida, 20 were residents of New York, and 20 were residents of North Carolina. Each of the individuals sampled was given a standardized test to measure depression. Higher test scores indicate higher levels of depression.
A second part of the study considered the relationship between geographic location and depression for individuals 65 years of age or older who had a chronic health condition such as arthritis, hypertension, and/or heart ailment. A sample of 60 individuals with such conditions was identified. Again, 20 were residents of Florida, 20 were residents of New York, and 20 were residents of North Carolina.

According to the February 2008 Federal Trade Commission report on consumer fraud and identity theft, 23% of all complaints in 2007 were for identity theft. In that year, Arkansas had 1,601 complaints of identity theft out of 3,482 consumer complaints ("Consumer fraud and," 2008). Do these data provide enough evidence to show that Arkansas had a higher proportion of identity theft than 23%? Test at the 5% level.
