Chapter 13, Problem 11RQ
Program Plan Intro
Voltage spike:
- Voltage spike refers to a sudden increase in voltage which lasts for less than 3 nanoseconds.
- It is also known as voltage surge.
- A corresponding increase in current is produced by the effect of a voltage spike.
- Some voltage spikes are also created by current sources.
Diode:
- Diode refers to a two-terminal electrical device which conducts current primarily in one direction.
- It has ideally zero resistance in one direction and ideally infinite in the other direction.
Inductive loads:
- The function of an inductive load is to convert the current into a magnetic field.
- Inductive reactance will resist changes in current, and, when measuring current, it lags the voltage.
- Motors, transformers, and chokes are some of the example devices that produce inductive loads.
- Inductance is measured in Henry.
