Concept explainers
a)
To construct: A product structure.
Introduction:
Product structure:
The product structure is a visual representation of the components needed for a product assembly and the sequence at which they must be developed. It will clearly depict the parents and children components at each level.
b)
To construct: A time-phased product structure.
Introduction:
Time-phased product structure:
The time-phased product structure will represent the product and the associated components visually with the details of the time at when each component must begin production. It is done to ensure that all the components are developed on time.
c)
To develop: A net requirements plan.
Introduction:
Net requirements plan:
The net requirements plan is the plan which is established on the gross requirements plan formed by deducting the stock on and the scheduled receipts. If the total requirement is below the safety stock levels, a planned order is made based on the given lot sizing technique.

- Farmers Groceries To You (FGTY) is a fast-growing company started by JMU alumni, which delivers fresh groceries collected in Virginia farms to families in the Shenandoah region. As part of an expansion plan, FGTY is considering approaching the northern Virginia market through printed product lists (PLs) containing deals, coupons and customers testimonies. The initial plan is to send 200,000 PLs to households in Fairfax and Arlington, expecting new customers to place orders. The company estimates to incur a fixed cost of $30,000 associated with design, printing setup and transportation contracting. Beyond this, the average transportation cost per PL is ¢20, while the printing cost per PL is ¢10. Also, FGTY incurs in an average cost of ¢25 for processing each order placed by a customer using the PL’s promotion codes. The expected size of an order is $50, and FGTY’s variable cost per order (mainly product costs labor) is close to 80% of the order’s average. You’ve been hired to help FGTY…arrow_forwardThe ATV Corporation makes three models of all-terrain vehicles: Model A, Model B, and Model C. Model A uses a 0.4-liter engine, Model B uses a 0.5-liter engine, and Model C uses a 0.6-liter engine. The aggregate production plan is the twelve-month plan that combines all three models together in total monthly production. The planning horizon is twelve months. The APP determines the size of the workforce, which is the constrained resource. Assume that the beginning inventory for January and that the desired monthly ending inventory is 120 units (30 units each of Model A and Model B, and 60 units of Model C), and the firm desires to have an ending inventory of 160 units at the end of the year. On average, one unit of ATV requires eight labor hours to produce, and a worker contributes 160 hours (8 hours × 5 days × 4 weeks) per month. The data has been collected in the Microsoft Excel Online file attached. Answer the question below: 1. The lot-sizing rule is, again, fixed order period using two periods. Lead time is three periods. Determine the planned order release schedule for the gear. Suppose each gear assembly requires two pinions. Currently there are 100 pinions on hand, the lot-sizing rule is lot-for-lot, and the lead time is one period. Determine the gross requirement and then the planned order release schedule for pinions.arrow_forward

- Please help me solve this table. Rockit Electronics manufactures a line of digital blue ray players. The player is made from one subassembly of B and one subassembly of C. B is made of three units of D and two of E. C is made of two units of F and two of E.The blue ray has a lead time of one week. B, C, and E have lead times of two weeks, and D and F have lead times of three weeks. As the production manager, you need to figure out the MRP planning schedule. 1. What is the bill of materials (product structure tree)?2. If 1,000 units of blue ray players are required in week 10, what is the MRP schedule? Specifically, when items are to be ordered and received. Each worker on the payroll costs $2,000 in regular-time wages per month. Undertime is paid at the same rate as regular time. In accordance with the labor contract in force, Kerby Corporation does not work overtime or use subcontracting. Kerby can hire and train a new employee for $2,000 and lay off one for $500. Inventory costs $32 per unit on hand at the end of each month. At present, 140 employees are on the payroll and anticipation inventory is zero.a. (WAI) produces two models of corkscrews, the standard model and a deluxe model. WAI follows a level aggregate plan, producing 20,000 corkscrews per month, or 5000 corkscrews per week. Th e MPS is developed in weekly time periods. Th e forecasts for each model and the projected available are shown in the next two tables. Th e replenishment order quantity is 2000 units for the standard model and 1000 units for the deluxe model. Note that you can place multipleorders if a single order is insuffi cient to cover the forecast (you can produce 4000 units of the standard model if necessary, or 2000 or 3000 units of the deluxe model). Remember that total weekly production is limited to 5000 corkscrews. Develop an MPS for each of the products.arrow_forward
