Concept explainers
To determine: The location of the 14C label in the starting glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.
Introduction:
Glycolysis is a series of enzyme catalyzed reactions that yield two molecules of the three carbon compound pyruvate along with the free energy which is conserved in the form of NADH and ATP. In the given experiment, 14C -labeled glyceraldehyde was added to the yeast extract. After a short time, fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate labeled with 14C at carbon 3 and at carbon 4 was isolated.
To explain: The source of second 14C label in fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate.
Introduction:
In the given experiment, 14C -labeled glyceraldehyde was added to the yeast extract. After a short time, fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate labeled with 14C at carbon 3 and at carbon 4 was isolated.
